7/9/2009 just did another good deed for the elderly. Apparently, when I click to install openoffice it works, but when the elderly click it doesn’t. Recent elderly man comment: “Where’s the picture?” referring to a youtube video playing for an office guest. It was playing as it should. is working in the WHQ listening to the “EM” (elderly men) meet with a guest. I think I’ll put my headphones on. Elderly Man question of the afternoon: “How do I e-mail all these photos to this guy?” Showed him how 2 use YouSendIt.com to send lrg files. 7/13/2009 Elderly Men Using Tech: Mike says, “Can someone send a text msg to Tim?” I reply, “Dad, should I do it or do you want to?” I sent the text. Elderly Men Using Tech: Dad wants 2 learn how 2 selectively download pics from digital camera to PC. He’s owned a dig camera for 10 yrs. Elderly Men Using Tech: I’ll show him, but he won’t remember. It’s feeling sort of like a ministry now. Elderly Men Using Tech: Regarding sending a quote to someone, “I’ll need to get an internet address.” Elderly Men Using Tech: “Where would the proposal for such and such job be?” Response: “In the Proposal folder.” Elderly Men Using Technology: “How do I save this number into my phone (a BlackBerry)?” Elderly Men Using Technology: Dad on typing, “Rob, how do I write one and a half?” Answer: 1 1/2 Elderly Men Using Technology: Many ?’s back to back…”Where is BCC on my e-mail?” “How do I go back to my inbox to find an e-mail address?” Elderly Men Using Technology: A repeat… “Which phone is that ringing?” Answer: home phone. Does that mean my dad should stop typing in ALL CAPS!?
